Lt. Governor Mary Taylor was recently in Heath to welcome xperion to Ohio and celebrate the creation of 59 new jobs. The Newark Advocate has more below:

A greenfield location in the central United States and government-business teamwork provided just what xperion wanted for its first facility in North America.

The German automotive supplier joined with nearly 100 city, county and state government officials, along with business and economic development leaders, on Thursday at the company’s construction site at 1455 James Parkway.

The company will manufacture composite automotive tanks for compressed natural gas in the 50,000-square-foot facility Southgate Corporation started building in September at the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center campus.

Roland Schillo, xperion business manager for North America, said most of the company’s facilities go into existing buildings. He also said not all other sites considered had the teamwork he saw locally.

“Let’s just say that they stood out,” Schillo said. “We believe we have found exactly the right place to start a success story here.

“We are very happy to announce that the city of Heath and Licking County will be our home in North America. I’m really flattered by the overwhelming attendance to this celebration.”

The company will provide 59 jobs, a $2 million payroll and make a $6 million investment. Company leaders said xperion has not started hiring, and county officials will announce those plans next year.

Each speaker praised the collaboration of government and business necessary to respond to the company’s needs in a short period of time.

“It proves that government and the private sector can work together and that’s the theme today,” Platt said.

“We’re big enough to get things done and small enough to care about one company at a time.”

Taylor added, “This united effort is why we are all standing here today. We’re looking not only to help those here today, but want the same opportunities to continue for future generations throughout Ohio.”
