Lt. Governor Mary Taylor was recently in Guernsey County to visit a drilling site to meet with workers and learn more about how the booming oil/gas industry is creating jobs in Ohio. WTRF has more:

Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor arrived at the J.Hall Well Pad in Quaker City on Thursday with the hope of experiencing what it’s like to work in the natural gas industry.
“This is number one, first time, so it’s really neat to see.” Said Taylor. The busy day started with the Lt. Governor suiting up in coveralls, a hard hat, and all the gear necessary to stay safe… then it was time to tour the massive drilling site.
Officials with REX – operators of the drilling site – were happy to show off machinery at the site.Taylor said that she has taken great interest in traveling around Ohio, learning more about the industries and small businesses that power the Buckeye state.“I want to see what it’s like to be on a rig and of course to understand the significant economic impact this is having on this region of the state.” said Taylor.
The economic impact for this region of the state is great news for the Governor’s office. They are mindful that when regions in the state are strong – it makes for a strong state,Taylor said, “I was visiting with Dover Hydraulics, on my way down here today, and the gentleman there mentioned to me that he lives in Carroll County, he said that Carroll County has 250 new millionaires – attributed to the gas and oil industry and all of the opportunities with this.”
After the tour, Taylor said the operators of the site were well aware of the regulations in place to keep the pad safe for all employees, as well as the citizens and environment and they’ve done a good job adhering to them.
